Our success story
Since our foundation in 1934, Ackermann has been a family business that has been passed down from generation to generation. The story begins when journeyman Georg Ackermann took over his master's business at the age of 21 - with just 50 Reichsmark in starting capital and five journeymen. He had previously worked as a "traveling mechanic" and repaired wooden gear wheels in mills. At the time, production focused on the manufacture of doors, windows and furniture.
During the Second World War, the company had to be temporarily shut down, but after five years Georg Ackermann returned and resumed production. With the reconstruction and the good economy, our order situation improved steadily. Large orders came in from Würzburg and Schweinfurt in particular, making us a regional market leader.
In order to meet the increasing capacity requirements, we built a new joinery in 1949, which was expanded in stages over the following years to an impressive 800 square meters. Georg Ackermann managed the business for almost 50 years and allowed it to grow continuously. In 1963, he passed his master craftsman's examination and his son Fritz Ackermann joined the company in a managerial position.
In the 1970s, we were confronted with the challenge of cheap Japanese competition. In order to offer our employees prospects and security, we shifted the focus of our production to furniture construction. This proved to be a successful step and also enabled us to acquire new customers such as Knauf in Iphofen in the 1980s, for whom we produced trade fair stands and exhibition models.

Management
Thomas Martin becomes the first non-family managing director of Georg Ackermann GmbH.

In 1971, we transformed our company into a limited partnership and finally into a limited liability company on 01.01.1981. Fritz Ackermann took over the position of managing partner on this day.
In the 1980s, we expanded our production area once again. We acquired a new 4500 square meter site and built a modern 1200 square meter workshop on it. This was used for interior fittings and furniture production, while we continued to manufacture windows, doors and conservatories in our old workshop.
The introduction of CNC machines in 1993 marked an important step for us. We joined the nationwide "Creative Partner" cooperation and became not only a renowned craftsman's business, but also a valued service provider for fellow carpenters. Our machine park was continuously expanded to meet the increasing demands of our customers.
Our work for Hasiyu Toyota on a 1:10 scale acoustic model for the Elbphilharmonie concert hall gave us our first contact with 3D CAD programs in 2007. This experience, and Toyota's satisfaction with our model, led to further exciting projects, including collaborations with renowned buildings such as the Philharmonie in Paris and the cité de la musique.
Today, we at Ackermann not only process wood and wood-based materials, but also a variety of other materials such as solid surface materials, composite materials, aluminum, plastics, gypsum materials, honeycomb panels and textiles. We use state-of-the-art 3D CAD systems to precisely plan and manufacture all components.
With our many years of experience, our commitment to quality and innovation and our highly qualified team, we are proud to offer you customized solutions for your individual needs. Contact us and let us realize your projects together.
